Eco-Friendly

We make memorials because we love our pets. We make them this way because we love the world they came from.

Plant-based, biodegradable PLA

Every Mitten Memorials piece is printed in PLA — a plastic made from corn starch and other plant sugars rather than petroleum. Unlike traditional plastics, PLA can break down under the right industrial composting conditions, and it does so without releasing the toxic byproducts most plastics leave behind. It’s the same material used in compostable utensils and food containers, and it’s strong, finishable, and beautiful in its own right.

Printed on demand — never overproduced

We don’t keep a warehouse of finished memorials sitting on shelves. Each piece is printed only after you order it, in the size and color you’ve chosen. That means no overproduction, no leftovers, no inventory that ends up in a landfill. The material we buy goes into the piece you receive — and almost nothing else.

Small-batch, local, low-impact

Mitten Memorials is run out of a home workshop in Michigan. There’s no factory, no overseas shipping, no fleet of trucks. Your order travels from a printer in our home directly to a shipping label on our kitchen table. The carbon footprint of one of our memorials is, by the standards of most things you can buy, almost nothing.

Packaging that gives back

We pack with recycled and recyclable materials wherever we can. Cardboard, paper-based void fill, no plastic foam. If you ever want to send packaging back to be reused, we’ll happily take it.

A memorial that honors a pet shouldn’t come at the planet’s expense. We try to make sure ours doesn’t.
